Job Introduction

We have a vacancy for a motivated and organised Marketing Communications Administrative Assistant to join our marketing and corporate communications team on a fixed term basis.

This is a Fixed term contract up to 8 months.

About the Role

Reporting to a senior member of the marketing communications team, the post holder will provide a combination of administrative and entry‑level communications support to the council’s corporate communications service.

The role includes providing basic communications support, such as building and distributing email bulletins, drafting straightforward web pages, articles and news releases, and updating content online. The post holder will also help schedule and monitor social media posts across a range of platforms, supporting the team’s digital communications activity.

The role will involve assisting with campaign delivery and evaluation by helping to track activity, distribute publications and provide administrative support for marketing initiatives. Responsibilities will also include booking print and advertising, raising and processing invoices, and ensuring materials are distributed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has a good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
Has a marketing, media or PR‑related qualification, or experience working in a related environment
Can demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Has solid administrative experience, including minute‑taking and spreadsheet management
Is highly IT literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Is confident using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube and LinkedIn
Is well organised, able to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
Is confident dealing with a range of internal and external customers
Is enthusiastic, proactive and keen to learn
