£8.00-£12.71 per hour (Apprentice minimum wage - age dependant)

Job Title: Finance Apprentice

Full Time – 37 hours per week

Salary - National Minimum Wage (age dependent)

Course: AAT Level 2 (In person course, either Southend or Chelmsford)

Course Start Date: September/October 2026

Contract Duration: Fixed term for 12 months

(Dependent on experience / qualifications, level 3 may be considered)

Castle Point Borough Council is looking for a Finance Apprentice to join our busy Finance team within the Corporate and Customer Directorate.

We are seeking someone who can:

Assist with financial reconciliations and reporting
Process transactions, refunds, and system interfaces
Support budget preparation and year-end accounts
Help maintain the contracts register and insurance records
Learn VAT and CIS processes as part of their apprenticeship training
Provide administrative support across the Finance service

Key Skills and Abilities:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to learn and develop professionally
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word

Experience:

No experience is required, but we will be looking for someone with a genuine interest in finance.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be willing to undertake a relevant finance or accounting qualification as part of the apprenticeship.

Interviews will be held week commencing 14, 17, 18 August 2026 at the Council offices in Kiln Road.
